It’s fair to say that our time in Germany has had some of the greatest impact on our lives. It’s the place where Stacey and I were married (with Aaron as our witness) and later where our son was born. During our time there the three of us were adopted by a local family whom we are still in constant contact with. They immersed us into their authentic German lifestyle and introduced us to traditional bier at its finest. It’s not surprising that we fell in love with the people, the culture, and of course, the bier. Some of our best memories were made drinking a pint at the villages local biergarten while exploring the German countryside. These were the moments that made us feel the most at home during our travels and why we wanted to bring a true European craft brewery to Texas.

A Biergarten to us is all about sharing a table, enjoying housemade food, exchanging good conversation and making new friends. And you can’t have a true Biergarten experience without good bier (this is where Aaron comes in). We can’t wait to bring that fun, laid back environment to Texas with Backroads Brewing Company. Our desire to honor our German experience played an important role in choosing where we were going to put our stakes in the ground.

  1. It had to be in the Hill Country on a backroad (obviously), but convenient for guests. As residents of Dripping Springs and local business owners of wedding venues, Vista West Ranch and The Creek Haus, we wanted to have BRBC close by.

  1. The space needed to feel true to Texas. Let’s be honest you can’t be situated on the backroads without some property to come along with it. So, mature oak trees and wide open spaces with a cool country breeze were a must.

  1. An essential element to any location we considered was having the perfect spot for a biergarten. It’s the backbone to who we are and what we love. When we found our location we knew this was the perfect spot to create our own little piece of Germany in our neck of the woods.

We hope that once you experience a beer in our backyard you’ll know what we mean.

Stacey and I truly believe that, through our travels in Europe and across the U.S., life is always better on the backroads. Stay in the loop with us as we will be documenting our progress and hosting tastings throughout the build.
